Consider a combi boiler if you own a petite dwelling house

small-scale homes can benefit from fitting a combi boiler as they require much less space than conventional boilers. You only need a combination gas boiler and balanced flue to install a full central heating system without any other parts. All that is additionally required to heat your home is some copper piping and some radiators. Your first reaction maybe that we had forgotten some pieces. What about the water pump, the hot water storage tank and the feed and enlargement cylinder.

These component parts are not called for by a contemporary combination heating boiler. With a combi you can dispense with the hot water storage cylinder, room in the loft can be saved by leaving out the feed and expansion cylinder, the combination heating boiler casing also has storage space to incorporate the other component parts mentioned. As a consequence you can save a substantial amount of storage space in your dwelling house.

Combination heating boilers are not a new heating boiler design. They have a longer history in the Continent but have now become the most common gas boiler in the UK. It is has two major deviations with the system and regular type of boilers. On the central heating side you still have a fully pumped system but all the heated water which circles around is sealed in. The benefit of this is that there is no requirement to fit a feed and expansion cylinder in the attic. Supplemental room is saved by the boiler incorporating its own hot water storage cylinder removing the requirement for the hot water storage tank.

Domestic hot water is produced as required, turning on a hot water tap will flag the need to the heating boiler. The hot water is produced by the use of a highly cost-efficient integral heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is heated by diverting circulating hot water from the central heating system. Fresh cold water from the outside mains passes through this heat exchanger where it is heated before it reaches the hot water tap.

The boiler design gives priority to getting immediate hot water. The moment the valve is closed the combination boiler will return to providing hot water to the radiators.

It is possible to set up a new gas boiler in a smaller flat and not require a great amount of storage space.
