A Sealed Central Heating System is a relatively modern technology, and is being adopted by many homeowners today. A sealed system, as the name suggests is a closed system so no water tanks are needed. In the absence of water tanks and pipework, the whole system is sealed and vented; here are some prominent benefits of such a system.
- No risk of freezing pipes in the attic.
- No maintenance or repair work is required for the pipes and tank which would have been in the loft.
- This decreases the chances of a possible leakage.
- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of airlocks, corrosion and sludge is much lower.
- Can be easily rinsed out under pressure via the main water supply.
All the required controls and safety devices are incorporated into the sealed Central Heating systems. A sealed Gas Central Heating System uses water that comes directly from the main water supply. The mains water goes direct to the sealed system.
Separated from the sealed system by a diaphragm is a pressure vessel, which contains compressed gas; this vessel is responsible for managing variations of pressure in the heating system. If the pressure is very high in the system, then the water will escape from the safety valve, and if the pressure is too low, then the safety valve will open to let the water in.
Overall Central Heating Systems offer more value for money as equated to alternative heating systems as they can be very efficient. Their ease of operation and versatility is much better than other types of heating.
