Leave Out boiler maintenance plans at your own peril
Leave Out boiler maintenance plans at your own peril
There are householders insurance policies to cover most eventualities these days, from pet health insurance to consumer electronics cover. Despite the choice it is important to get those insurance policies first which are compulsory like the ones for motor insurance. If someone has a mortgage from a bank, the lender will require the borrower to take out buildings insurance. Policyholders are requireded by the lender to protect themselves from losses that could ruin their lives by these types of protection cover.
Carrying somewhat of a lower degree of importance is central heating insurance, such as those products from npower Hometeam, Eon and British Gas. The gas central heating insurance is obviously not as important as your home insurance, but its important nonetheless as fixing it can cost you a fortune if you have an unexpected gas boiler or heating failure. If you do not have this security and in case the system stops working, professional help is often not possible immediately, also it doesn’t sound like a great idea to live without heating for any length of time particularly in cold winters. More worryingly is the prospect of a faulty system leaking carbon monoxide, which can be fatal.
There are a range of plans on the market. Basic plans will cover annual servicing, safety checks and other minimum requirements. However, the likes of spare parts and repair work are not included. But if someone wants to take out one of these plans, barring the fact that their central heating system is still under warranty, only has to add a little amount on the monthly payment to include coverage for maintenance and spare parts within their policy. Particularly if a heating boiler is getting close to the end of its working life, this extra money is well spent. At this point, customers will have to decide if they just need their central heating boiler covered, or if they also want to have the rest of the central heating system covered such as the radiators, heating controls and so on.
Sometimes the insurance supplier sets limitations or clauses of exemption even in a full cover plan, hence it is important to read the fine print. The number of call outs per year or maximum cost of inclusive repairs for a given period are limited by some suppliers. As should be done for all other kinds of insurance, don’t simply select an insurance policy with the lowest cost without examining the level of coverage and ascertaining it fulfills your needs and that of your gas central heating system.
